Transcending Shame

Shame is an emotion we all experience from time to time, however when shame becomes toxic, it can be one of the most disorganizing of all emotional experiences.  Excessive shame can interfere with our meeting needs and disrupt our health and sense of self-esteem.  Emotionally reactive, harsh, and self-critical voices can develop. And shame-prone identities can emerge which become painfully pronounced over time.
